Artist Statement
Figures and animals have always been a part of my work. I often use
them as mirrors to reflect my inner thoughts and feelings about the
external world. Maybe it’s that another living creature (real
or imaginary) gives me something to compare myself with, becoming simultaneously
an example of who I am, and who I am not. I’m not sure at this
point, which compels me to keep exploring the subject.
Humor is also important to me. I enjoy laughing. My favorite type
of humor somehow manages to combine bizarre absurdity with a greater
truth about the world. It can take time and discomfort to get past the
humor and strangeness, but I believe that the underlying truth is worth
finding.
